Attending the Laird and Liverpool Colleges of Art and a Fine Arts
degree from the Otago Polytechnic, image making has always
been a passion for me. Securing a teaching position that lasted
36 years gifted me with the opportunity to expand my knowledge
of Art as an educator and enjoy many rewarding experiences
as my students realised their potential. With the reputation of one
of the best Art departments in the country, my colleagues and I
were able to inspire students to produce Artworks of the highest
quality. Many of these students have become significant Painters,
Printmakers, Sculptors and Designers in New Zealand and abroad.
Sharing with others the beauty of the Otago Peninsula and providing an enjoyable relaxing holiday for clients is a very important part of the experience offered.
The programmed activities timing will be flexible to ensure client preferences are catered for.
My aim is to provide clients with an opportunity to unwind in a special place, be inspired by what I have to offer and enjoy the rewards of successful endeavour.
My involvement in the development of the New Zealand Visual Arts curriculum and as a national Moderator for years 11, 12 & 13 has given me a good understanding of learning strategies. All this experience I bring to my studio and apply to smaller groups of mature students.
My educational philosophy is founded on an understanding that through well designed Art programmes, a supportive and relaxing environment, all students will grow in awareness and gain the confidence to develop perceptual and conceptual skills. as they discover their ‘way of working’.
Whether you have developed your image making skills or not participated in art since leaving school, I know I can provide for you new insights and techniques that will enable real progress.
